Don’t miss the final Thirsty Thursday for 2019 with the fabulous Saronsberg

Date: Thursday 28 November 2019
Venue: 51 7th Street, Houghton Estate
Time: 19:00 for 19:30 start
Cost: R395 pp

Saronsberg can be found in the Upper Breede River Valley of the beautiful town of Tulbagh. Saronsberg is made up of two farms called Waveren and Welgegund. The farm formed part of the Twee Jonge Gezellen until it was divided between the two Krone brothers in the 1950s. It was at this time that the farm was renamed after the mountain, Saronsberg, on whose slopes their vines now lay.

The first Sauvignon Blanc grapes were harvested in 2004 and won many awards. Winemaker Dewaldt was awarded membership to the Cape Wine Makers’ Guild.

A great note to end The Wine School year on.

Here are some of the reviews

Rainbow’s End – Cabernet Franc 2016

“Elegant and unique single-clone Cabernet Franc from the Banghoek high above Stellenbosch. Awarded ‘Top Six’ in the SA Cabernet Franc Challenge 2017.”

Froggit & Vonkel

“This Rainbows End Cabernet Franc is fantastic. Anton makes some of the best red wines in Stellenbosch and it is his Cabernet Franc that he is most proud of, believing his vineyards have the ideal microclimate for this variety. Anton also produces other excellent award-winning red wines including blends, straight Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, plus a superb Merlot.

Very pure, medium-bodied with red fruit flavours, very smooth and beautifully balanced. Subtle oak ageing for 12 months, then bottled unfiltered to retain all the flavour and natural goodness. Great wine.”
