How do I become a Guru?Uncorked One is simply the best introduction to wine in Jozi. In just one day you will hear about and TASTE the key South African varietals (grapes used) and learn how not to feel like a tosser in a restaurant. You will also learn stuff about wine shopping, about coming face-to-face with a restaurant wine list and surviving and about storing wine in your linen cupboard. You’ll leave the course having learnt a hellava lot about wine and the world of wine.
When are the courses?
The Wine School will schedule courses every few months. Be sure to subscribe to the newsletter so that you know when the courses are happening.
You can also schedule your own course. Get a group of 10 friends together and The Wine School will come to your home to run the course with your friends on our premises.
How much am I in for?
R1150 per person which includes the fee to become a wine guru, lunch, two refreshment breaks, comprehensive course notes and 9 wines for tasting.

If you’re no longer feeling like a tosser in a restaurant, or you’ve completed Uncorked One with flying colours (any colours are good really) Uncorked Two is for you. The course is run across two Saturdays from 08:30 - 12:30. Evening classes are also scheduled from time to time.The first Saturday covers the Old World including France, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Germany while the second Saturday covers Aus, New Zealand and South Africa. You’ll leave this course knowing exactly what a Bordeaux Blend is, why New Zealand’s Sauvignon Blanc is worth tasting and that the Aussies make better wine than rugby players.
The course looks at the South African wine lands exploring a bit of “what’s good from where”.
